Janey

This is Janey, one of our neighbor's cats.  I was cat sitting and took my camera along.  Janey is usually inside when I cat sit.  She is very friendly.  I would love to know what she is thinking.

A new one for me . . .

While weeding a flower bed I came across this.  It's the seed pod for a dogfoot violet.  I had never seen one go to seed before.  The seed pods are close to the ground so they are usually hidden by the wide leaves of the plant.  This seed pod is similar to the seed pod of other violets and pansies.  Look at all those seeds.  No wonder so many of these things pop up in our yard and flower beds.

Caterpillar

While watching a neighbor's son play little league, the neighbor's daughter found this caterpillar to play with.

I'm not a caterpillar expert so I don't know what kind of moth / butterfly it should eventually turn into.

A mystery by the bird feeder . . .

All we found was a pile of feathers.  Don't know what, when, how, why or who.
