While cleaning up a leaf pile, Bob disturbed this guy. The little snake (about 1 foot long) was not happy about being disturbed. We moved him into a nearby garden bed but later when we went back to check on him, he was gone.

The story behind the images:
I looked down and saw the snake at my feet so I grabbed the snake and threw it across the yard (my first instinct). I had an idea (second instinct) so I picked the snake up again, put it back where I found it but covered it with the leaf rake. I realized there was a photographic opportunity so I got Carol to take pictures of the snake. Then I gently moved the snake to the other flower bed.
