More shots with my new camera

Tapestry cover to my day planner.

Know what this is? It's a macro shot of a paper towel. I'm just having too much fun with this new camera! Thanks, Bob.

New Canon G9 shots

These shots were taken of a bouquet of flowers I received for my birthday using my new Canon G9 camera that I also received for my birthday. I think I'm really going to like this camera. Cool macro lens in a point-and-shoot body. I'm a lucky girl.

Not grapes

No, these are not grapes.  They are the leaves of a burro's tail plant.

Astilbe

I have many different varieties of astilbe planted around the yard.  They seem to be an easy perennial to grow.  I have 4 different pinks, 3 different reds and now a white.

More baby birds . . .

This small nest has several baby birds in it.  When the parent comes to feed them, they all start chirping.  If you get real close, all you can see is a few open mouths .  It's very dark in the nest and the nest hangs under a red maple tree.  I haven't had the opportunity to study the parents to see what type of small bird is nesting there.  Most likely a wren of some sort.

To close for comfort . . .

This was a HUGE spider by the garage door.  I didn't want to get down on the ground to take his picture so I just held the camera close to the ground and snapped the shutter a few times having no clue if anything would come out or not.  I didn't want to get to close in case he decided to come my way.  I think he can move faster than me!

Busy bee

This is a busy bee.  He was moving from flower to flower so quickly that it was hard to get a good shot of him.  This was my first attempt at taking his picture.

This little creature didn't move so it made it much easier to get a shot of him.

Toad ya!

This is one of several of our summer night time visitors. The other day there was a smaller one but I wasn't able to get a picture of him before he hopped out of reach. They like to hang out around the garage lights and eat bugs. We have plenty of bugs around the garage lights so they have plenty to eat. They do get competition for food from the big orb weavers that spin large webs just under the garage lights. I'll post pics of them soon.

A summer favorite . . .

Local Pennsylvania-grown corn is just coming into season. Yum!!

One more time . . .

Sorry for the repetition but I just love all the delicate petals of a peony bloom.  I am amazed how they transforms themselves from a closed bud to this broad array of petals.

I planted some dianthus in a container on our deck.  I've did have much luck with them in the yard last year so I'll try this for now.
